‘Major Crimes’ season 5 video: The best way to prepare for winter premiere

Major Crimes -

If it feels like it’s been forever since the first part of “Major Crimes” was on the air, there’s a pretty-simple reason for that: It has been practically forever. The last batch of episodes was on the air in the summer, and late February is a little far out from when the show typically comes back.

So if you have forgotten a few details along the way, we don’t quite blame you — also, we have a way to help remind you of what happened last time in the video below! In this video, you can get a quick recap of some of what happened over the course of the first part of the season, especially when it comes to the violent, shocking stuff that happened during “White Lies.” (Yes, we’re equally as surprised as anyone in retrospect that Brett Davern played a role so completely different from Jake on “Awkward.”)

Surprisingly, one of the things that the video does not touch on is Andy Flynn’s medical event at the end of the summer finale, something that plants a significant seed that is going to have to be addressed as we get into Wednesday’s episode. You can’t just leave the man fighting for his life and not tell us what’s happening with him! There will be an update on his condition most likely in the premiere, while one of the other events to keep watch over is the hunt for a replacement to the late Taylor, who died during the first part of “White Lies.” Sharon Raydor will be in consideration for it, but expect competition — hopefully, it’s of the friendly kind and we don’t get one of those situations where cops stoop to illegal activities as a means to get ahead. (Not that we think Sharon would, but we don’t know the other potential candidates!)

“Major Crimes” is absolutely worth diving back into — we’ve got some great characters, some interesting cases, and it’s a part of a genre of TV that doesn’t get the recognition that it deserves anymore. So even though the return of the show may not be heavily publicized aside from TNT, we do hope that it’s given as much a chance to shine as possible.
