‘Nashville’ season 5, episode 9 preview: Rayna fights for her life
“Nashville” is a show that is about music, but there’ve also been plenty of times where it’s been a show about struggle. We saw it back in the first season with Rayna, over the course of the cliffhanger with Juliette, and we’re about to see it with Rayna once more as you go into next week’s episode. Just the title here is enough to make you wonder what come be coming next — “If Tomorrow Never Comes.” (Odds are, it’ll also make you nostalgic if you’re a fan of Garth Brooks.)
If you’re interested in getting a little bit more information as to precisely how Rayna is fighting for her survival, the promo makes some of that clear as she’s carted into the hospital, and gets another dose in the process of just how troubling life can be when you’re a celebrity of this magnitude. People recognize you, unfortunately, in places where you would rather have a little bit of anonymity.
If there is one bit of hope we can give you if you’re a Rayna fan, it comes via the synopsis below:
“After her life-changing experience, Rayna scrambles to write one more song for the concept album with Deacon. Meanwhile, Juliette’s leg starts to hurt inexplicably; and Gunnar fights for Scarlett.”
Basically, there’s going to be some hope that she can make her way out of this, given the sole fact that she wouldn’t be able to write anything otherwise. Of course, just because she gets better enough to do this doesn’t mean that she’s okay in the long-term. There are plenty of other problems that could come about. This is, after all, something that Juliette could be going through herself at this point.
While we’d say that “Nashville” season 5 has been a little more of a slow burn than some of the past seasons of the show, that may be for the best — it’s allowed us to build towards something that could be explosive and incredible.
