‘Victoria’ episode 4: Jenna Coleman, Tom Hughes talks Victoria – Albert relationship
While there are many shows that are going to be off the air on Super Bowl Sunday, one will still be airing over on PBS: “Victoria.” The British adaptation will be running up against the big game, much in the same way that we used to see “Downton Abbey” air in the spot.
Do we think that there will be a drop in the ratings because of this? More than likely, but at the same time it shouldn’t completely destroy it. This is probably as close to perfect counter-programming as you’re going to get. The Super Bowl wasn’t exactly around at the time in which “Victoria” previously was on the air, so this should mark an opportunity to keep viewers who don’t care at all about football.
The video below is a great way to prepare for what is coming up, given that you get some personal insight from both Jenna Coleman and Tom Hughes on the central relationship for the series: Victoria and Albert. These to are at the core of an epic love story. You get the sense that there is a great deal of respect and adoration there, but there’s also something a little more. There’s a sense of significance, that the two are forging one of the great love stories of our time. The importance of their relationship was not lost on them at the time; as a matter of fact, the political ramifications are going to be at the focal point of much of what you see Sunday night.
We’ve liked to say that this is a show about the journey, and that is applicable at this point in the story more than ever. We know the end result of the relationship; what is a little more unclear (at least to modern audiences) is seeing the hardship that the two went through in order to get from point A to point B.
