The Vampire Lestat season 3 episode 2: The big Bruce reveal

We had a feeling that come the end of The Vampire Lestat season 3 episode 2, we were going to have at least something worthy of conversation. However, who would’ve thought we would be circling primarily back to some of the earlier days of the show?

Yet, this is what we got upon learning that many of the Detroit vampires introduced at the start of this season are actually ruled by Bruce, the absolutely horrific vampire who tormented Claudia back in season 1. Louis was implored by the Talamasca to try and do something regarding them and at first, he was hesitant. Knowing about Bruce, however, does shift the dynamic. This is someone who cares about Claudia even so much time after her death and wants to make sure that her soul can actually rest. The Talamasca are in some ways manipulating him and yet, they also do not want to be responsible for cleaning up an issue creating more by vampires in the first place.

Ultimately, we do think that Louis is going to act in some way moving forward — but beyond that, wasn’t it interesting to get a full sense of his business empire within this episode? He has clearly chose a very different way to live as a vampire and within that, it does serve as a reminder that there are benefits to immortality when it comes to studying and/or preparing at least some sort of financial portfolio for oneself.

What we love the most about the Bruce reveal

While we hate that Claudia went through so much, it makes sense for the series to continue to find ways to honor that character even still. It helps to create more through-lines between these seasons, which is especially important given the big shift in style and tone this go-around.
