Ratings: ‘The Flash,’ ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ improve on quieter night; ‘Agents of SHIELD’ down

Flash -

On a night where there were many repeats on the air, we have a smaller number of shows to discuss. Therefore, we’re going to be looking at all of the remaining ones on an individual basis. There is some good news here and there … and then there’s “Agents of SHIELD.”

The Flash” – For its second episode of the year, the CW superhero show improved to a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is more in line with how it tends to typically perform. Nothing to be upset about here! Plus, it’s already renewed like the rest of the network’s super-powered lineup.

Legends of Tomorrow” – It improved, as well, to a 0.7 rating, which further validates the decision to move it to Tuesdays. While you are in some ways taking away a Thursday lead-in, at the same time the network saw that “No Tomorrow” wasn’t really benefiting all that much from airing after “The Flash.” You might as well get the ratings boost elsewhere.

“The Mick” – The Fox comedy with Kaitlin Olson ticked up slightly to a 1.1 rating. We do think that it’s pacing well for a second season, but at the same time we do realize that we’re still so early in the process that it’s a little tough to know for sure. Fox still has some more new shows to premiere.

“Bones” – Hey, it’s the final season. Fox is probably fine with the series getting a 0.9 rating.

Agents of SHIELD” – With a 0.6 rating, ABC’s superhero show is not making it easy on itself to get a renewal. We may be a fan of the series, but we do think it would take a kind gesture from the network to get it a season 5. Maybe they’ll bring it back with a ten-episode final season to close up the story? Well, they could, but there’s no reason that they necessarily have to given the fact that they could just throw these characters onto other shows. If it was canceled, we do wonder if Netflix would be interested in picking it up given their close relationship to Marvel already and the crossover potential it has with some of their other shows.
