‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13: Jerrika Hinton will depart by season’s end

Grey's 0

Grey’s Anatomy” is a show that knows a thing or two about departures, and it’s as a result of that the following should not come as much of a surprise to anyone out there: Jerrika Hinton is going to be departing the ABC show at the end of the season.

This news was confirmed today by TVLine, and it should not come as a show to anyone when you consider some of the recent news surrounding her being cast in a new potential season from “Six Feet Under” and “True Blood” executive producer Alan Ball. She was almost a part of another television series for the 2016-17 season, so we felt even more that the writing was on the wall going into season 13 in the first place. In the end, we’re grateful that we got as much time with her as we did on the show — we presumed that eventually, she would find her way to a larger gig, and that will probably be the case now even if Ball’s show is not picked up for series.

At the moment, there is unfortunately no word as of yet as to how we’re going to see Hinton’s character of Stephanie Edwards written off the show. There is always a chance that the character could be killed off, mostly because of the fact that this is a show executive produced by Shonda Rhimes. Character deaths do happen, and they happen often.

Personally, our hope is that Edwards simply gets a chance to move somewhere else, where she can advance even further in her career. After all, this will offer us a chance to become even more successful, and it gives us a chance to potentially see her once again on the show down the road. We much prefer though, mostly because we still find ourselves wanting to see Cristina on the show again by the end of the road. Someday, maybe there will be an epic episode where many old favorites come back.
