‘The Affair’ season 4: Premiere date speculation for Showtime drama
While it may have been somewhat under the radar thanks to both the SAG Awards and everything else going on in the world, the fourth season of “The Affair” on Showtime did come to a close earlier tonight.
With that, we are here as we often are following finales in order to take somewhat of a look ahead towards the future.
The good news – There is already a fourth season for the series on deck. Therefore, we don’t have all that much to worry about when it comes to the show’s short-term future. Even without it drawing as much buzz as it used to, there is still a clear audience here, and to go along with that further, it still remains very much an awards-season threat. Just take a look at what we saw with Maura Tierney across many different shows recently — even if she did not win, getting the nod is still great press for the show.
When it returns – There is no confirmed premiere date yet, but we don’t have any issue with the format of it starting in November and then running through the holiday season. If you think about how many shows do this, it’s a veritable ghost town. There is less competition, and therefore a better chance at live ratings. In this crowded industry, we do think that it is very much beneficial that you take advantage of virtually every opportunity that you can.
We do like the ten-episode season specifically for this show — it keeps the plotlines reasonably contained, and keeps everything from running a little amok or being stretched out further than they need to be.
As for whether or not the fourth season of the series will be the last, that is something that we ultimately are not going to have an answer to at any point in the near future. Once there is some more to report, though, we will have it for you here.

I’m happy The Affair renewed as well as Homeland. I didn’t care for The Billionaire. I will renew Hulu Showtime in November if they carry it. LOL ?
