‘Feud: Bette and Joan’ goes for ‘American Horror Story’ flavor in first promo
Come Sunday, March 5, FX is going to be premiering one of their most highly-anticipated series of the year in “Feud: Bette and Joan.” This marks the first collaboration on television between Ryan Murphy and Jessica Lange since the fourth season of “American Horror Story,” and based on the promo below, all signs point to the network promoting it in a rather similar way.
After all, this promo is relatively short, and is based almost entirely around a gruesome sight: On this particular occasion, a rat on a plate with a side of tomatoes. Maybe somewhere, this is considered to be a luxury. For us, we consider it to be more of a horror story about as much as anything that we saw during “Hotel.” It’s somewhat creepy, and then you get the over-the-top reaction to it.
Lange is set to play Hollywood icon Joan Crawford in the series, while Susan Sarandon is going to take on the part of Bette Davis. Basically, the appeal of this series seems to be that you have two entertainment icons playing other entertainment icons, and then you are throwing in there such other key players as Catherine Zeta-Jones and Sarah Paulson.
Think of “Feud” for the time being as the replacement to “American Crime Story” on the schedule, at least for the year given that the network is really taking its time in order to develop properly the “Katrina” season. This show does appear to have more of a comic edge to it, but who doesn’t like a laugh here and there? What we care about is that there is a show that is juicy and authentic, and shows what life was really like for these two women who just could not find a way to get along. If this season does well, we certainly know that it could spawn many other seasons … and as a result of all of that, the possibilities are largely endless.
What do you think about this new trailer for “Feud”? Does it make you more or less excited to see the rest of the series coming up? Be sure to share some of your thoughts right now in the comments. (Photo: FX.)
