Ratings: ‘Last Man Standing’ wins Friday as ‘Blue Bloods’ drops, ‘Sleepy Hollow’ hits low

Given everything that was going on in the world on Friday, we can understand any network that opted for something resembling radio silence. Who would you want to compete against Inauguration coverage? There is a sentiment of putting stuff of the air for providing counter-programming, but this is a business. You also have to remember here that even those who oppose Donald Trump as President may have been preparing for the Women’s March the next morning and were not altogether interested in watching anything.

Anyhow, let’s get into sharing what were the ratings on a largely-weaker Friday than the one we saw the week before.

ABC – While there was no “Shark Tank” on the night, “Last Man Standing” still found a way to emerge at the top with a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. As we’ve noted, this show has surged this year thanks in part to syndication, which has enabled it to avoid many of the year-to-year drops that some other shows out there do tend to experience. “Dr. Ken” also managed to improve up to a 1.0.

NBC – The great news here is that “Grimm” was steady with around a 0.8 rating; the bad news is that “Emerald City” is already at a 0.7, and that bodes very poorly for the show’s future. If it cannot snag a significant amount of attention now, why would we assume that it would at some point down the road? Consider it in danger.

Fox – “Rosewood” fell to a 0.6 rating, and thanks to “Sleepy Hollow” getting a series-low rating of 0.5, we’re starting to think that the Fox show is just about as dead as one of the monstrous otherworldly creatures Ichabod Crane faces on a regular basis.

CBS – Without “MacGyver” as a lead-in, “Hawaii Five-0” slipped on the night to a 1.0. Meanwhile, “Blue Bloods” posted a 1.2 that still proved to be a small decline versus the week before.

The CW – “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” continued to rate low at around a 0.2 rating, but the show being renewed already for a third season wipes away some of our sadness towards it not performing well. Meanwhile, “The Vampire Diaries” (0.3) is already ending.
