Stars of ‘Outlander,’ ‘X-Files,’ ‘Chicago Med,’ and more take part in global Women’s March
Today may have been the Inauguration of Donald Trump as President, but today is turning out to be something even larger both in America and around the globe: The Women’s March. While the most-publicized one is happening in Washington mere yards away from the White House, protests are happening in hundreds of other cities and are drawing hundreds of thousands of people.
Women’s rights transcend anything such as background, ethnicity, your social status, or your job — therefore, we are thrilled to see so many different TV actors taking part in the event in one way or another. For the sake of this article, we’ve compiled a list of many of them in order to give you a great sense of the event’s overall size and scale. There are men and women taking part in the March, and you can see that they come from a wide array of TV shows past and present. This is just a small sample size of what you’re going to end up seeing (it is still early), and you have people like America Ferrera (“Superstore”) giving speeches, Gillian Anderson (“The X-Files“) attending a March in London, Caitriona Balfe (“Outlander“) showing images of a March in Scotland, John Wesley Shipp (“The Flash“) in New York City, and Kerry Washington (“Scandal“) preparing for one in Los Angeles. You also have “Parks and Recreation” / “Fargo” alum Nick Offerman taking on Piers Morgan.
These tweets are a small, but panoramic, view of some of what is going on today. This is obviously an event that is far larger than just TV (what we choose to cover at the site) — it’s an event larger than any sector of the entertainment business. It’s more about people, and women’s rights are the unifying cause.
For everyone who is out there marching today, have your voice heard and be proud, but at the same time remember to be safe. This is a culture now where there is such a connotation between protest and violence that you need to stay vigilant of aware of your surroundings of all time. Celebrate and be strong for your cause.
