‘Teen Wolf’ season 6: About Mieczyslaw Stilinski
If “Teen Wolf” wanted to resolve the mystery of Stiles’ actual first name with one of the hardest possible names to ever pronounce, we certainly feel like they did that and then some on Tuesday night’s new episode.
Mieczyslaw Stilinski. That is the name of Dylan O’Brien’s character, which finally came to the surface on Tuesday night’s new episode. While this may seem like an odd name to most Americans, as it turns out, there is some sort of ethnic origins to it. Speaking on this subject to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Jeff Davis had the following to say:
“A few years ago, I knew I would have to actually reveal Stiles’s name at some point … I was looking for a Polish name that was incredibly difficult to both spell and pronounce. Mieczyslaw sounded like ‘mischief.’ It seemed like a perfect word to describe Stiles. Both as a mischievous child and equally misbehaved adult.”
As for whether or not the show needed to actually give the character a first name, we don’t actually think that they did. As long as you kept it a mystery, you would have something for fans to discuss. It’s not like knowing the first name changes the character in some way or makes us like or dislike him more. It’s just a name. It is cool that there is some sort of reasonable explanation for it, but you could have assumed that anyway.
At present, we would say that the more important order of business is having everyone truly remember Stiles, and then also getting him back from the other side. All signs suggest that the team is close, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens on next week’s episode to know for sure. From there, we should also start to get a little bit more of an understanding as to what the remainder of the series is going to look like.
