‘This Is Us’ episode 11 preview: Sterling K. Brown talks Kate, Toby, and Randall

There is a new episode of “This Is Us” coming on at a special time tonight in 10:00 p.m. Eastern, and based on some of the teases that are out there courtesy of actor Sterling K. Brown, all indications are that this one is going to be big.

Why is that? You don’t have to look any further than the sole fact that Toby is in need of severe medical attention. The character suffered what appeared to be a heart attack at the end of the winter finale, and his life is now on the line. Answers are coming within the first handful of minutes Tuesday night, but to get a further tease regarding this right now, you don’t have to look any further than what Sterling K. Brown (a.k.a. Randall) had to say to Entertainment Weekly:

“Obviously, we still don’t know exactly what the status of Toby is, but the family definitely rallies to Kate’s side in the hopes that everything will work out in her favor.”

Brown also noted that another chief component of tonight’s new episode is going to be getting a chance to see a little bit more of precisely what is going on in terms of Randall and his relationship with his father now that William’s sexuality has become more of a plot point. We have a hard time imagining him being the sort of person who is going to really bring this up in a negative way, but at the same time, this is something that they clearly are going to have to talk about and consider. It is a big change in terms of figuring out the right way to identify this person who he, at the end of the day, is really still trying to get to know.
