‘Sherlock’ season 4: Holmes takes over the BBC for #SherlockLive craziness
There are many odd experiments that we’ve seen major TV networks use social media for, but we may be seeing the folks over at The BBC being the big winner of this award for the way in which they used “Sherlock” for a #SherlockLive experiment they ran starting at around 8:00 p.m. London time today.
What the network chose to do here is this: They went on their official social media account, and announced that they would be having a sort of “live” presentation of a case. Their Twitter version of Sherlock Holmes gave clues, offered up information, and continuously trolled fans having a great time with them every step of the way. Who doesn’t want to be trolled by Sherlock? Eventually, there were some people out there who did eventually find out some answers to the case, and were praised accordingly for it.
Given that “Sherlock” is already a hit show, there isn’t really that much of a motivation for them to do this from a publicity standpoint. There’s not even any assurance out there at the moment that there show will be given another season. In the end, we do genuinely think that this move was done just for the satisfaction of the fans, who’ve really stuck around through thick and thin and supported the show even with year long waits and only 3 episodes seasons.
The last episode of the season is entitled “The Final Problem,” and that is going to make everyone wonder just what the endgame will be for many of these characters. After all, the arrival of Euros Holmes is a game-changer, perhaps a bigger one even than anything that #SherlockLive will be giving us.
What do you think about this idea, and do you wish that this is something more shows would do? Let us know in the comments below, and head over to the link here to get some further news and insight on the show. (Photo: BBC One.)
