‘The Good Fight’ spoilers: Julianna Margulies will not appear in ‘Good Wife’ spin-off (for now)

For those of you out there hoping to see an appearance from Julianna Margulies on the upcoming spin-off for “The Good Wife” in “The Good Fight,” prepare to be somewhat disappointed.

While at TCA this morning promoting the upcoming CBS All Access series, show executive producers Robert and Michelle King confirmed that while there were some conversations on the subject, both they and Margulies agreed that Alicia Florrick’s story was meant for “The Good Wife” proper, as opposed to this show. According to TVLine, Florrick is still far from forgotten as a character on this show. Her name is mentioned constantly, and the show is not going to be forgetting her or the impact that she had on getting everyone to this point.

Reporters were also shown the longer trailer for the series, which reportedly features Diane (Christine Baranski) uttering the f-bomb on one occasion when learns that a financial scheme, one that she put her trust in her goddaughter Maia (Rose Leslie) to take care of, has left her devoid of her savings. This leads to her continue to practice law at a new firm, one where she will work alongside Maia as well as former “Good Wife” character Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo).

There are ten episodes in the first season, and it will be interesting to see precisely if this gamble for CBS All Access pays off. We know that there were many great episodes of “The Good Wife,” and that this show has a passionate fan base. Many of them may have the disposable income to spend $5.99 a month for the basic plan for the streaming service. The question is whether or not they will; that, to date, has shown itself to be the greatest problem when it comes to this show leading up to its premiere next month.
