‘No Tomorrow’ and ‘Frequency’ will have closure, even if canceled
At the moment, the future for “No Tomorrow” and “Frequency” is not exactly clear on The CW — though we do continue to be very much worried about the two of them. Neither have performed well in the ratings to date, and given that the network has still a number of shows to premiere, they may not need to bring them back for another season. That is especially true when you consider the network’s pilots, which could end up containing a prequel series for “Charmed.”
Speaking at the TCA Winter Press Tour today, CW programming head Mark Pedowitz said that the plan for the two shows was to always given them these 13-episode orders, though at the same time we do wonder if that would’ve changed had the ratings for either one of them been through the roof. He also looked at several causes for potential struggles, including the World Series or the Presidential Election dominating so many headlines.
Here’s the good news: Even if the two shows are canceled, the network is still looking for a way to ensure that fans of the two shows get some sort of closure. Pedowitz claimed, per TVLine, that the bubble series will each film a sort of tag; if one or both of the shows are canceled, said tag will be placed online, and everyone will know how some key storylines end.
Obviously, there is no replacement to actually getting to watch some of the shows that you love, but in theory we love this simply as a way to further ensure that nobody gets completely left behind by what happened. It’s at least more than other networks are doing; TV is a business, so this at least seems to be the closest thing to a win-win solution.
Do you think that filming these sort of “tags” is something all shows in danger should get an opportunity to do? Share below, and head over here if you did miss some of the news on key renewals from earlier in the day. (Photo: The CW.)
