‘MacGyver’ episode 13 preview: The ‘Large Blade’ survival mission
Tonight on CBS, “MacGyver” chose to present a rather entertaining episode in “Screwdriver,” one that presented us with the return of many familiar faces. After all, you’ve got Sarah Adler back in the picture, the hunt for Mac’s ex-on-the-run Nikki, and then also the oh-so notorious Murdoc. If there was ever an episode of the show that was a culmination of everything we’ve seen so far, this is it. (Don’t worry, we’re not getting too spoiler-heavy in this article for those who haven’t seen it yet.)
What we will do now is give you some of the first details about next week’s “Large Blade,” an episode that should provide a few welcome opportunities to learn a thing or two more about what happens when you thrust our heroes into a situation where they have very little to survive, and almost no way to get help.
Synopsis – “On the way back from capturing a war criminal, Mac and Jack’s helicopter crashes in a remote area of Kazakhstan, injuring their pilot and allowing their prisoner to escape with Jack’s gun. Using a large blade and a water bottle, MacGyver must get help as the pilot’s condition worsens and before the war criminal takes them as prisoners.”
What’s interesting about this episode is that it would be interesting enough if this was just Jack and Mac doing “Cast Away” in Kazakhstan. However, throwing a war criminal in there ups the ante and the stakes tenfold, given that you’ve now got this terrifying threat as a part of the equation and you have to figure out a proper way in which to keep him alive without him hurting either you or your pilot, who you’re also struggling to keep alive.
Basically, we’re not sure how these two are going to be able to make all of this happen … which is probably the point when you stop and think about it. We just know that the writers are going to have a tough time topping what happened tonight.
