‘NCIS: New Orleans’ season 3, episode 10 review: Agent Pride’s good intentions lost during cartel case, killing
On Tuesday night, the viewers of “NCIS: New Orleans” couldn’t help but to feel for Agent Pride. After all of his insistence to keep a promise, it was still broken by no fault of his own. The latest episode of the popular series was called “Follow the Money” and unfortunately when Agent Pride’s team did follow the cash there was severe repercussions.
The pursuit of the cartel in New Orleans definitely has the FBI and NCIS offices busy. Javier Garcia has been suspected of bringing drugs into the area, but he’s been careful not to leave a trace. Finally the FBI follows a lead to what may be the biggest break yet giving FBI Special Agent Tammy Gregorio a reason to stay down south and put Garcia behind bars.
What surprises the viewers is that Garcia is about to get married to one of Agent Pride’s friends (and someone he has helped in the past). Eliza West looks to be the victim in this situation as Javier Garcia is marrying into her family’s name and using the cover of their generosity. After breaking it down, Agent Pride relents to allowing Eliza West to help the FBI. Convinced there is no other way to catch Javier, a plan is hatched. She can get documents to tie Garcia to all the alleged crimes the New Orleans cartel is suspected of doing.
Interjecting himself, the plan seems to work out just fine. Eliza gets the documents, the FBI has the records and all seems good. Well, Javier Garcia hasn’t been caught for a reason. They quickly find out the law enforcement teams have been duped, but it is too late. It points to the wrong person.
Thanking Eliza for all her help, the witness is loaded up in a car to be taken to a safe house. By the time she leaves the building, the team recognizing that Garcia knew of the plan and all the records point back to his wife to be, Eliza West. More bad news comes from the phone. Forensic Scientist Sebastian Lund realizes there is a killer on a mission and the job is to take out Eliza West. She is the target.
Agent Pride does his best to stop the convoy to the safe house, but it’s too late. Only blocks from the FBI, he watches in horror. The car is riddled with bullets killing the agents and the witness. The promise that Agent Pride made weighs heavy as Eliza West is dead. There are no leads to point back to Javier Garcia in a twist that’s almost too much to carry.
We really enjoyed this episode of “NCIS: New Orleans”. The personal conflict of Agent Pride engages fans on a level beyond any other episodes. While it’s obvious that he was doing his best, his next decision needs to make the situation right. Which is why we can hardly wait until the next episode. Episode grade A-
