‘Arrow,’ ‘Lucifer,’ and ‘Supergirl’ could soon have company in another DC Comics property on TV

Happy 2017! As a way to help ring in the new year, apparently Geoff Johns of DC Comics wanted to hand down a rather welcome gift: Notice that another show from an existing property could be on the way! Check out the tweet HERE from Johns, where he references a big announcement in the midst of talking about “Lucifer,” “Arrow,” “The Flash,” and some other superhero shows that are currently on the air.

What could it be? The consensus guess is the “Black Lightning” project at Fox becoming an official pilot — this is something that we’ve heard about before, and given the success of the CW shows, we have to figure that it is definitely something that we could be getting moving into the fall. Fox probably wants to get more into the superhero game after getting some reasonably good success out of “Gotham” and “Lucifer.”

Sure, we figure that it is possible that he’s also talking about a show that we haven’t heard about just yet, but it’s hard to figure out precisely what it could be. While a Green Lantern show on The CW could be fun, it’s hard to imagine the network putting on five shows in the same universe in a week’s span. It’s already crazy enough that they’ve got four going on and all of them seem to somehow work. As for other networks, NBC’s dipping their feet into “Powerless,” but we’re not sure that they’re looking for a larger property right now given that most superhero shows have very select markets. Meanwhile, CBS already did this with “Supergirl,” and ABC is going to be inclined to support Marvel, given that they share the same parent company.

For the majority of the show’s mentioned in Johns’ tweet below, you can expect to see some more new episodes a little bit later this month. Hopefully, “soon” when it comes to this announcement means “sometimes within the next couple of weeks.”
