‘The Bachelor’ spotlight: Will Olivia Burnette (originally from Alaska) warm Nick Viall’s heart?
We’re always excited to see people on “The Bachelor” who are in some way unique, and have a voice that we haven’t heard in some form already on the show. We like to think that Olivia Burnette provides that given that she originally hails from Alaska, and we hope that this means that she brings a very different background and vibe with her this season. We’ve also seen in previews for the season that she’s arriving sporting a heavy fur coat, meaning that this is something that she’ll be leaning into at least in the early going this season to help stand out to Nick Viall.
Will it work? That’s something we’ll have to look at further in the latest edition of our shot spotlight series. If nothing else, maybe she can restore some positive vibes to the name Olivia after so many of them went away on the show last season.
Age – 25.
Occupation – Apparel sales representative. She has a pretty normal job, which we always think is somewhat of a good thing given that Nick at one point also did before all of the craziness started when it comes to his time with this franchise.
Location – Her hometown is Anchorage, Alaska, but she seems to be now living in Nashville. That’s certainly a far cry from the northernmost state in the country, and we’re sure that she has travel stories aplenty as a result. In general, we don’t see many people with Alaskan roots on the series.
Things to know – She was the kicker for her high school football team, she is a hopeless romantic who loves Nicholas Sparks, and she hates spiders … which means she is right there with most of the country. It seems like she’s there looking for love, but there isn’t too much else that’s none about her personality-wise.
If we would nitpick her slightly, she should say that the fictional character she’s most like is Supergirl and not Superwoman — Superwoman has been depicted several times as an evil character in the comics, and we think to date her connotation isn’t quite so positive.
How is she actually going to do? – Olivia seems very nice, and that could be both a good thing and a bad thing for her on this particular show. We could see her making a lot of friends with the other women, and allowing a lot of them to have time with Nick. Unfortunately, in the process we could see her either getting forgotten and slipping into friend-zone territory. Maybe she lasts several episodes, but sadly we don’t see Nick flying to Alaska for a hometown date anytime soon.
