‘Homeland’ season 6 spoilers: Brody’s specter to play a part

See Carrie -

Let’s start this particular “Homeland” article by making one thing really clear: The show not throwing Nicholas Brody into a Lazarus Pit and hoping that he emerges on the other side in one piece. Damian Lewis is not coming back in the present — as a matter of fact, it’s hard to necessarily imagine him coming back at all, given the sole fact that he has another job in “Billions” on Showtime that more than likely is going to take a lot of his time off of the board.

As we start to look towards what we will actually see in the upcoming sixth season, it appears as though the issue of Frannie’s biological father will be a key point of discussion, and something that will be discussed over the course of one upcoming episode. Speaking on this subject to TVLine, executive producer Chip Johannessen passed along the following message:

“One thing that surfaces this season is the question of who her father was … I actually just got done writing a scene for Episode 9 that serves as kind of a follow-up to a monologue [Carrie delivered to Frannie] in Season 4, in which she got her up to speed on who her father was.”

One thing that you have to remember when looking at the quote about is that this is not a situation coming up where Frannie is still too young to understand much of what is being said around her. She’s now aged up a couple of years, and is now at the time of her life in which she can start to ask some questions. This will add a little bit of density to the story, and also showcase some of Carrie’s own abilities as a mother more. (Let’s hope that she’s figured out a way to get better at this over the course of the past couple of seasons — we certainly don’t have great memories of her to date.)

New episodes of the show will officially begin airing starting next month on Showtime.
