‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Christmas Special: Was Melvin Odoom or Frankie Bridge 2016 winner?
The British know how to do Christmas television right, don’t they? While we here in the United States tend to steer clear of major programs on the day, overseas you get a wide array of great specials — with the majority of them proving to be a rather great time and then some. The new “Strictly Come Dancing” Christmas Special is just one example of that. Given that this is one of the BBC’s top-rated shows, it makes sense that they would want to put it out there. We’re also rather lucky that it just so happens to be as entertaining as it is.
One of the things that we really like about the special is that it offers a second chance to people from all seasons of the show to come back and get another shot at doing well in the ballroom, and specifically, this time around we’ve got a roster that includes Ainsley Harriott, Gethin Jones, Pamela Stephenson, Denise Lewis, Melvin Odoom, and Frankie Bridge.
Over the course of the show, we saw routines based on “Elf,” “Frozen,” some traditional Christmas, songs, and so much more! We also had Len Goodman and the judges dressed up in as festive a fashion as possible.
So who was declared the “winner” of the special? We moved along at a rather brisk pace over the course of the evening and we eventually learned that Melvin took the title home! Hopefully for him, this was a nice way to get a little bit of redemption after not getting anywhere near as far during his season as he would have liked. He seemed overjoyed about it, but in the end it was hard to see anyone altogether sad about this given that it’s Christmastime. Everyone got great scores, and this was overall a happy special.
