‘Lucifer’ season 2 spoilers: How Chloe factors into the plan
The second season of “Lucifer” will be returning to Fox with some new episodes starting in mid-January, and with that, one of the major cliffhangers that we’re going to be seeing revolved is precisely what the big Chloe reveal means. We’ve now learned that she was not just naturally a part of this world; instead, she was placed there by God, giving Penelope and John a child that they would not have otherwise conceived. Also, you can easily make the case that this was God knowing that she would eventually be in Lucifer’s path — which means that this is something that we could see his mother try to use for her own advantage. We know what her motives are, and how she will stop at nothing to try to make them happen.
With that, the following tease from executive producer Ildy Modrovich (per TVLine) makes pretty good sense when you think a little bit about how Mom could try to use Chloe in a pretty destructive way:
“We will definitely find out how she plans to use Chloe, right away … And since we know Mom will stop at nothing to get back her family, which includes Lucifer, she’s going to use Lucifer’s feelings against him. She’s going to weaponize those feelings, putting the relationship between Lucifer and Chloe in major jeopardy.”
Ultimately, we’ll see precisely what happens here, but as of right now we’re certainly worried about her. At the same time, what could be interesting is that we can easily see situations where these plans could backfire, and push Lucifer even further away from her out of anger. This is one of those situations where there are so many different ways things could go based on not only the nature of the threat, but the stakes behind it. There’s also plenty of story still to come, and that leaves the slate pretty clean.
