‘Top Chef: Charleston’ episode 5 preview: Could Sheldon’s injury cause him to leave?
Tonight, “Top Chef: Charleston” delivered an episode that was holiday-themed, but not everyone had necessarily a warm and fuzzy ending to their story. BJ was sent home, presumably for serving fish that was tough and in the words of Padma Lakshmi, tasted a little bit more like overcooked chicken.
Moving forward, the rest of the chefs are going to be taking on a variety of different challenges — including a quickfire that may not have Padma Lakshmi or a guest judge! The timer just starts, and the chefs have to figure out precisely what they are supposed to do. That cannot be easy.
As for the next part of the episode, we’re going to have a chance to see what seems to be a barbecue cook-off — you’ve got full racks of work, and it seems almost immediately that Katsuji is going to be at a huge disadvantage. He owns a kosher Mexican restaurant, so cooking with pork is just not something he does all that often except on “Top Chef.”
Now, the part of this episode that could be a little scary for Sheldon: Him potentially having to leave due to an injury. While the injury itself wasn’t mentioned in the promo tonight, it was brought up a little early in the season in a preview. Therefore, we’ve gotta wait and see whether or not this is so bad that he is unable to continue. Given that this is a guy who works so hard and is insanely ambitious, we have a hard time imagining that he would willingly sit out of a challenge. You’d probably have to force him to leave if you want to stop him from cooking.
Given that he comes back, it’ll be back to being everybody’s game.
