Former ‘X Factor’ group Fifth Harmony loses Camila Cabello as member

The latest -

This tends to be the time of year that you want to associate with happy things and warm tidings, so it’s with that we feel sad coming to you today with news that is certainly rather sad: Fifth Harmony is losing one of its most-prominent members in Camila Cabello. This group first formed on the American version of “The X Factor” many years ago, and has gone on to have some major hits in “Work From Home,” “Sledgehammer,” “Worth It,” and others.

If there is one thing as sad as the departure of Cabello from the group, it is the way in which it is happening: With a statement posting on the band’s official Twitter late Sunday. Here’s a small taste of it:

“After four and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony. We wish her well … You Harmonizers have been there with us since the beginning, you’ve supported us, you’ve rejoiced and cried with us, you’ve grown with us, and with your love and support, we will continue on.”

The part of this that makes it extremely uncomfortable to us is the statement that the rest of the band was informed through Camila’s representatives rather than by her. Why wouldn’t she be the one to tell the group given that they’ve been together for years and have traveled the globe together? We don’t know anything that was going on behind the scenes with the group, but we certainly

The reason we decided to include the photo above is because it does give you a sense of how far the band has come over the past few years, where they started on a singing show originally under the name Lylas, and then went to 1432 before eventually deciding on Fifth Harmony. They’re one of the bigger stars to come out of any singing show over the past few years, and that includes one like “The Voice” that ironically had much higher ratings when the American “X Factor” was on the air.
