‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ season 7, episode 4 review: Dorit gives Erika the gift of underwear
Last time on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” there was a wee bit of a “scandal” (if you can call it that) where Erika didn’t wear underwear to a party in hopes to avoid lines in her dress and Dorit’s husband PK spent a portion of the night looking up her dress. We thought this was going to be the end of that storyline, since it doesn’t merit much more then ten minutes of an episode, but we are going to be rehashing this again tonight, thanks to Dorit giving Erika a pair of underwear as a joke.
Although Dorit seemed to be over Erika’s lack of underwear when discussing it with PK, she has been talking to all the women about how upset she was that Erika had on no underwear and was sitting across from PK with her legs slightly open – so this issue is far from resolved for Dorit. At this point it seems that everyone knows how Dorit feels about this except for Erika. Most of the ladies feel that Erika was not doing this on purpose to get attention, but Dorit feels that if she knew she wasn’t wearing underpants then she should be keeping her legs closed at all times.
Before we get to the confrontation with Dorit and Erika can we talk about the fact that all of the “Real Housewives” shows are putting these women in escape rooms? We just watched this same thing 2 weeks ago on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” when Porsha organized for everyone to go to an escape room. Is it too much to ask for Bravo to give the women different activities instead of recycled ones?
Now for the gift of underwear – Dorit buys Erika some panties as a “joke” gift, but for us we aren’t really sure if it was purely a joke or if it was a way to broach the subject with Erika in a way that she might not get upset. When Erika gets the gift and is told that PK was staring at her privates all night and that no one told her it goes over as well as you would think. Erika is pretty upset that no one told her while it was happening. Things get even more awkward when Erika tries to make it clear that the only reason she wasn’t wearing underwear was because she was trying to avoid underwear lines and not because she was trying to give a show. Dorit says that she doesn’t think that Erika was trying to seduce her husband, but that she had to be aware of what she was doing to some degree. Erika tells her to stop talking about it, because it’s now become this huge issue when it started out as pretty much nothing. Even though it’s brought up again at dinner, they agree to just let the whole situation go, but we can see that there’s a strain between these two women now.
Outside of UnderwearGate there were a few other fun things happening. We saw Lisa R. do a 24 stint on QVC to sell her sweaters, while Erika was on the set of “The Young and the Restless” with Eileen. There was also a small update on Kyle’s show as she’s been watching a lot of auditions and looking for just the right people to cast (she already has Alicia Silverstone playing her mom so she’s on the right track).
We are hoping that the underwear scandal is over now, because we really don’t think there was any shadiness behind Erika not wearing underwear. What we do find a little strange about it was that Dorit had to talk to all of the women about it, and make a public production out of giving Erika underwear in order to talk to her about it. Couldn’t she have just taken Erika aside and talked to her privately and resolved it without the peanut gallery looking on? Episode grade: B-
