‘The Voice’ finale spoilers: What Billy Gilman, We McDonald, Josh Gallagher, Sundance Head will sing
The finale for “The Voice” is starting on Monday night, and with that, all of the remaining artists have a chance of performing some tracks in the hopes of having them be enough to propel contestants to the grand prize. what’s exciting is that while we think there is one favorite over the others, we don’t feel altogether confident about it. There aren’t too many times over the course of the series’ run that we feel like we can say that.
We’ve got two categories for you below for tonight’s show — solo performance and duets. There are also winner’s singles coming up, but there are ones that we will document a little bit later in the night in separate articles. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled to this link over the course of the show!
Solo Performances
Josh Gallagher, “Jack & Diane” – Love the song, and really like the choice of a song that hasn’t been covered too much on singing shows. In general, what we really like is that neither of the two country artists are doing predictable country songs for this round.
Billy Gilman, “My Way” – This should be interesting — it’s a huge song, and hopefully Billy’s got a very cool angle on it. We don’t consider him to have the baritone voice of your typical crooner, and that could yield itself to some creativity here.
Sundance Head, “At Last” – Love it, love it, love it. He’s doing a song that is extremely well-known and beloved by fans of all genres, and one that he could easily spin into something country. We envision this being the sort of track that makes him even more of a contender.
We McDonald, “Don’t Rain on My Parade” – Another very big song, but one that’s also lot of energy and power in it. That’s one of the things that we really like about these choices — while some of them are ballads, we don’t think of any of them as super-depressing or boring. That should make for a fun show.
Duets
Josh and Adam Levine, “Smooth” – This could be really fun, and if nothing else, it’s nostalgic. Remember when everyone was singing this Rob Thomas / Santana song?
Billy and Adam Levine, “Bye Bye Love” – We know that Adam loves this era of music, and we can see the two harmonizing really well to it.
We and Alicia Keys, “Ave Maria” – By far the riskiest choice of the entire night. We know that We has some opera skills, but can she and Alicia make this song mainstream?
Sundance and Blake Shelton, “Treat Her Right” – Interestingly, the two country guys pick a very old-school song with connections to rock and doo-wop. Once again, it’s interesting that there are no pure country choices in the mix here.
