‘The X Factor’ UK final: Matt Terry performs ‘One Day I’ll Fly Away’
Tonight, “The X Factor” UK is bringing you the final performances of the season, and while we initially thought that these were the winner’s singles, the show pulled a curveball on us and made these instead songs to win over votes. For Matt, this was a performance of “One Day I’ll Fly Away.”
So how was the performance? We’d say that it was really lovely! This was a very good song choice for him. It suited his voice really well, there was a lovely crescendo to it, and you could see just how much of a connection he had to the song. He hit every note in precisely the way that you would want for him to, and it was a further reminder that this guy had himself a really great final! He did almost everything that you would want for him to, in between picking a great cover for his final performance and really showing that his voice can fill large arenas. You don’t want to leave a final feeling as though you left anything on the table.
Hopefully, we’ll have a video for the performance up shortly; if Matt wins, a little bit later he’ll have a chance to perform one more song (written by Ed Sheeran), which will be a proper way to send him off into the sunset and the real world. Here’s to hoping that this song turns out to be better than “Forever Young,” which ended up being a sales disappointment for Louisa Johnson last year.
Update: Check out the performance below! We do think reaction to it at the moment has been rather positive, and hopefully that translates into many votes for him.
