Critics’ Choice Awards 2016: Host T.J. Miller ready to address ‘elephant in the room’ after arrest
Tonight, the Critics’ Choice Awards are going to be airing on A&E, and despite the drama the past couple of days for show host T.J. Miller, it still appears as though he is stepping into the role of host for the ceremony.
In a post on his Twitter account earlier today, the “Silicon Valley” star claimed that he would “address the elephant in the room” during the ceremony, which likely is a reference to his recent arrest after allegedly slapping an Uber driver in the middle of an argument about President-elect Donald Trump. It’s such an out-there story, and one that certainly surprised us when we first found out about it. Yet, maybe the show can somehow find a way to move on from this one way or another, whether it be an apology or at least some sort of explanation.
We’re a fan of Miller’s work and have been for a rather long time, but we don’t exactly think that this is something that he’s going to be able to avoid over the course of the ceremony without getting hounded for it. People want answers! Maybe the whole “elephant in the room” part of the tweet ends up being a reference to something silly that he does, but we do think that it will have to be mentioned in some shape or form.
There was admittedly a brief period of time where we wondered if we were going to see T.J. continue to host the show following the arrest, but soon after it was confirmed that his role would not change — this is not the first time that he has hosted the show, and that level of familiarity with him may have proven to be an asset for him.
