‘Fuller House’ season 2: Creator on latest Mary-Kate, Ashley Olsen invite
It’s the subject when it comes to “Fuller House” that just won’t die: Whether or not Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will ever appear on the show. We know that it’s something that the majority of fans out there would like to see, and for good reason given that the two parties were the biggest names to come out of the show at the time, and they want on to forge a highly-successful empire as a result.
However, over the past several years the sisters have taken more to working in the fashion world, and rarely make appearances on television at all as themselves, let alone their characters. Yet, the producers and cast for the show continue to hold out some hope for a Michelle appearance, mostly through some winks / nudges to the camera. The latest one comes during the fifth episode of season 2, where DJ Tanner (Candace Cameron Bure) says she misses Michelle while at Thanksgiving and that she hopes that she will be around next year. From here, Jesse (John Stamos) looks towards the audience and says “come, it’ll be fun!” in a way that’s very similar to the line in the series premiere.
Speaking to TVLine, creator Jeff Franklin made it clear as to why the show is operating in this sort of manner in a way to bring the Olsen Twins back:
“That’s our way of communicating with them now … We just talk to them through the show. What [Jesse] said was how we all feel. We’d still love to see them come back. Who knows if that’ll ever happen, but we’re all still hopeful.”
We do actually think that this method is the most practical in order to get the two back. The ladies are not people who need the money or the attention, so there’s no need to hound or pressure them into making a return. The only way that it may happen is if the two parties genuinely believe that coming back on the show will be a good time and a memory that they’ll enjoy having. Even if just one of them appears, that would be enough.
