‘MacGyver’ episode 10 preview: Mac goes home — and deals with chaos

It’s been a couple of weeks since you’ve had a good chance to check out a new episode of “MacGyver,” but come Friday night, we’re going to be back with an installment in “Pliers” that will hopefully be a nice source of further insight into where our title character and Bozer come from. We’ll get a chance to see them head home, but in the process, run into a lot of surprises along the way. Think of this maybe as a “the more things change, the more they stay the same” sort of situation.

Of course, Mac going home doesn’t exactly mean that he’s going to have a peaceful homecoming. We’re going to have over the course of the episode an opportunity to see Mac and Bozer have to spend some of their time in order to rescue someone he sees a lot of himself in. The synopsis below offers up a little more insight:

“Mac and the team have no time to reminisce while visiting Mac’s and Bozer’s hometown when they immediately start searching for a kidnapped prodigy from Mac’s old middle school, Valerie (Amiah Miller). With just pliers and speaker wire available, Mac works doggedly to rescue the young genius he has so much in common with.”

One of the most appealing things about this episode is that it does mark an opportunity for us to understand these characters better, and focus on them alongside of the case at hand. That’s been one of the reasons why the last two episodes of the show have elevated it significantly, and we now see this more as a show that could last a rather long time.
