TV Quick Hits: ‘Inhumans’ gets ‘Dexter’ alum as showrunner; ‘Good Girls Revolt’ renewal hopes; new CBS comedy
Who’s running “Inhumans”? – While we don’t quite know the future of “Agents of SHIELD” at present, we know that ABC is looking to air a show themed almost entirely around Black Bolt and some other Inhuman characters come the fall; not only that, but they’ve hired a showrunner who is certainly familiar with the superhero world in Scott Buck.
Coming off of the first season of “Iron Fist” for Netflix, Buck is going to head over to oversee this series. There’s not too much known about it at present, but Marvel loves the property so much that they were originally planning to make it into a movie before going in this route instead.
Buck also is known for being an executive producer on “Dexter” and steering some of the later seasons of that show.
“Good Girls Revolt” looks to the future – We’ve seen a number of stunning cancellations over the past couple of years, but one of the most shocking ones has to be Amazon quickly moving on from “Good Girls Revolt,” a project that seemed to have a reasonably-loyal audience and some critical acclaim.
Luckily, it seems like there will be a future for the series still Per The Hollywood Reporter, ABC, Freeform, USA Network, Bravo and Hulu are among the networks who are looking at the series at present. The show has until the end of the year in order to figure out its future; for now, we’re reasonably optimistic that it will get a shot at a second life.
Cedric the Entertainer heads to CBS – Sources confirm that the actor / comedian is developing a multicamera sitcom with Spike Feresten at present, which will focus on two very-different brothers who find a new link to each other when one’s nephew decides to go to work for his uncle at a custom car shop. There aren’t too many other details available about the show at present, other than that we assume that the talent alone will get it some consideration.
