‘The Good Wife’ spin-off ‘The Good Fight’ scores official premiere date
For those of you curious as to when we’re going to get to see more of “The Good Wife” on the air, at least in the form of a new series featuring some of its characters, we now have some sort of answer for you.
CBS confirmed today that on Sunday, February 19 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, the network is going to air the first episode of “The Good Fight.” This spin-off series stars Christine Baranski as Diane, who finds herself in a pickle after her goddaughter Maia (Rose Leslie, “Game of Thrones”) sees her reputation ruined after a financial scam. In turn, Diane also loses much of her life savings. The two end up joining forces with Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo) as they try to move forward and take on an array of new cases.
Following this first airing, the show will shift over to the CBS All Access streaming service. We hope that this works out, but we imagine that it could be challenging to convince people who already have CBS to then go and pay extra to watch a show exclusive to their streaming platform when the original was on the network proper. It’s a little bit different than “Big Brother” given that it’s not on 24/7, and it’s also different from Netflix given that you don’t already have some sort of Netflix before subscribing.
You will have a chance to see some other “Good Wife” favorites turn up on “The Good Fight” if you watch, including Gary Cole as Kurt and Sarah Steele as Eli Gold’s daughter Marissa. There’s no word on if we’ll see some other iconic actors from the series turn up, but we certainly hope that we’re going to have an opportunity to see it happen.
