‘Homeland’ season 6 spoilers: ‘Medium,’ ‘Hell on Wheels’ alum cast in significant role
“Homeland” has long held a reputation for delivering relevant stories that correspond with what is actually happening in the surrounding world, so it shouldn’t be altogether much of a surprise to learn that the series is, for the upcoming sixth season of the show, diving further into the world of the alt-right media.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jake Weber of “Medium” and “Hell on Wheels” fame will recur in the role of Brett O’Keefe, a personality within this particular media movement. While he may have an aggressive demeanor about him, there is also a charm that could lead to some out there being inclined to want to listen to and support much of what he has to say. This in turn could make him rather dangerous in an era where extremely political viewpoints on both sides have led to enormous divisions within our country.
“Homeland” pushed back the start of the sixth season to early next year, and the more and more we continue to see news stories break in the aftermath of the election, the more this feels like a wise choice for them. Without knowing what happened in the race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, it may have been a little bit more difficult to frame the entire race. Now, they can establish a little bit of a clearer angle — we do know that one of the main characters for the new season is a President-elect who is in the process of making that transition, and early descriptions of them suggest that there are elements of both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump built into the person that they are playing on the show.
Once there are some further details available about this particular casting, we certainly plan on having them for you. Stay tuned!
