‘The X Factor’ UK: Simon Cowell would be happy with Saara Aalto win

Saara -One of the more ridiculous stories that’s being floated around out there is the discussion that for some reason or another, people are very concerned about where the winner of “The X Factor” UK comes from. One of the big stories on Saara Aalto leading into the finale is whether or not someone like her, who came into the competition from Finland, should be able to win over British artists. We’ve made our own stance on this pretty clear, and it’s simple: It really doesn’t matter in the slightest. Why should it? This should be a competition where the best person wins, and through a good percentage of the season to date, Saara’s offered up a pretty compelling case that she is the best and it is hard to deny her that. In particular, she’s blown people out of the water the past few weeks.

The good news here is that Simon Cowell seems to be of the same mind regarding a potential Saara win. Speaking per the Mirror, he compared the idea of a foreign-born contestant winning this show to one winning another ITV show in which he executive-produces:

“I don’t mind at all. People from different countries have won Britain’s Got Talent, it doesn’t make any difference … It shows what we are like as a show and what the audience is like – welcoming. I like that.”

There is a larger social commentary that could easily be made here, as well, about how it is especially great to embrace people from all different parts of the world in 2016 and celebrate their achievements; after all, we’re all in this together! We’re not saying to reward them specifically because of it, but if the talent is there — and it certainly is  in this case — why not go ahead and try to celebrate it further?

We’ll have more on the finale for “The X Factor” as we get closer to it airing on this coming weekend. If you want to get some other news when it comes to “The X Factor,” be sure to head over to this link right now! (Photo: ITV.)
