‘Westworld’ finale to run 90 minutes, contain answers aplenty
The first thing that you should know regarding Sunday night’s season 1 finale of “Westworld” is that you are looking at an installment that’s going to run a little bit longer than usual. As Evan Rachel Wood confirmed on Twitter (see below), the season is ending with a 90-minute episode; for those of you planning to watch both this and the 90-minute episode of “The Walking Dead” on the same night, you’ve got your work cut out for you! Granted, the zombie drama’s a little bit less when you factor in commercials.
One more thing that you should know here is that the idea for the finale isn’t to leave you with a multitude of questions still hanging over your head; as executive producer Jonathan Nolan tells Entertainment Weekly, you are hopefully going to be satisfied with what you end up seeing during the episode:
“We weren’t interested in spinning out mysteries with no answers in sight,” Nolan said. “Our goal is to tell an ambitious story in season-long chapters, each with a distinct feel and theme.”
“Westworld” was already renewed for a second season, so there isn’t a whole lot to be worried about in terms of that. Unfortunately, one of the only other things that we know about right now in relation to that season is that Ed Harris is apparently going to continue along in some capacity. It’s likely that we’re going to be heading to a different world, and we feel that even more so after seeing Nolan’s comments. This would be in line somewhat with the source material, given that there were other locations out there that could be worth visiting.
As we near the finale, we’re going to have much more news on what’s coming up. For now, be sure to head over here if you want to see a promo for the episode right now!
