‘The Real World Seattle: Bad Blood’ episode 8 video: Theo, Kassius’ conflict returns
After a week off of the air due to the Thanksgiving holiday, we are going to have a chance this coming Wednesday to see the return of “The Real World Seattle: Bad Blood” to the air. With that, we’re hopefully in the process also going to have a chance to see more of what this season so far is missing: The “bad” in “Bad Blood.”
Remember: The idea at the core of this show was to bring people together who have a history of having problems with each other, and then also seeing if they can resolve and turn around these relationships. For some of these people, it seemed like these issues were as simple as people just saying “we good?” at each other and going about their merry way. Maybe Anna and Katrina are going to have a blowup at some point because they’re sisters and will probably be linked their entire lives, but most everyone else has been fairly even-keeled … with one notable exception.
The conflict between Theo and Kassius is by far the most interesting one of the entire show, mostly because the issue at the center of it is so severe. There are not many other situations where you have someone claiming that another person is singlehandedly responsible for ruining your entire life, and that is what Theo lays at his feet over a pot incident that caused him to lose his prominent college football career. The two have talked things out here and there, but in the sneak peek below, it all comes back once more and Kassius accuses him in confession of “living in the past.”
What makes this all the more interesting to analyze is that we don’t know who was the responsible party in this — maybe they both were — and with that it’s not entirely clear if there should be any blame. The one thing we do know is that unless Theo decides that he’s ready to drop what precisely happened, there is very little chance for him to be able to move forward. Even if he doesn’t want Kassius in his life, hanging on to what could’ve been still is not going to do him any good.
