‘NCIS’ season 14, episode 8 review: Bishop’s boyfriend revealed, Agent Gibbs’ team solves chaplain’s murder
On Tuesday night fans of “NCIS” were introduced to Probationary Agent Eleanor “Ellie” Bishop’s boyfriend. After her brothers arrive in town to see who is the lucky man, they create a little chaos while trying to protect their sister. The personal question at the beginning of the episode that had everyone in the “NCIS” office talking was who was Bishop’s boyfriend?
The NCIS team’s latest case took part of the team all the way to Gitmo. After a Navy chaplain was murdered, the clues pointed to an alleged terrorist who was behind bars. While the team tried to understand why the chaplain was killed four hours before the crash where the chaplain was found dead, they stumble upon one of the biggest secrets about an individual who has been locked up for over a decade. Looking at all the clues, the case twisted and turned until the agents realized that the man who was locked up was wrongly framed as the translation was intentionally altered to keep him in prison indefinitely.
Back home, the case continues to build up when the man who gave the translations is found. Looking to make things right, the translator admits he was helping the late Navy chaplain who figured out the truth. Giving him documents and sharing the situation, he wasn’t angered about the discovery, but was trying to make things right.
Running down the leads, it’s obvious that NCIS has hit a dead end when it came to the murder suspects. Tracing the last moments of the murder victim’s life, the team realizes that the chaplain had another issue he was concerned about. One of his tasks was going to the bank and he was actually stopping at the bank for two reasons. One reason was to pull out money from his personal account and the second reason was to check the bank accounts of the Interfaith group he was part of. Noticing discrepancies in cash given to the organization and what was earmarked for charities in the community.
The final twist to solving the murder was when the chaplain confronted the office manager about the money. Apparently a scuffle ensued after the confrontation and the chaplain was fatally hurt. Killed inside the building, the body was removed, placed in a vehicle and a brick was placed on the gas pedal. Solving the time discrepancy, the team is sure they have found the real killer by confirming he was dead before the chaplain even sat in the vehicle..
There were several segments during the show where the fans watched gleefully as the antics of Bishop’s brothers grilling her male counterparts about dating their sister. Using brotherly love, the guys seemed to go a bit overboard, but everyone seemed to appreciate how much they cared about her. The last few minutes of “NCIS” answered the big question. So who is Bishop’s boyfriend? Probationary Agent Bishop is dating Qasim Naasir, who fans first met in Season 12.
We felt tonight’s episode was a good balance revealing how the agent’s at “NCIS” deal with work and personal lives. Showing how one case can personally impact a whole team, this latest episode leaves viewers asking tough questions about Gitmo. Episode grade: A-.

Maybe I have been watching too long. When I first saw Qasim I thought “Hmmmmm?”. When I saw it was Qasim I thought “It only makes sense”. Good choice.
