‘Elementary’ season 5, episode 8 preview: Is Sherlock’s sobriety in danger?
Typically on most episodes of “Elementary,” we spend the majority of the time concerned about the cast more so than the characters that are involved in it. After all, someone like Sherlock Holmes is such a pro at what it is that he does that there’s often not any immediate reason to fear his ability to get the job done.
However, what happens when it’s suspected that the character is putting his own sobriety into further danger? That is something that is central to the upcoming episode airing next week entitled “How the Sausage is Made,” which is yet another amazing episode title — the show’s been rather good at giving us those lately.
Synopsis – “Joan worries Sherlock’s sobriety is at risk when she learns he has been lying to her about attending recovery meetings. Also, Sherlock and Joan discover a man’s death caused by ingesting poisoned sausage is connected to a lab working on a breakthrough in the artificial meat industry.”
The one silver lining that feels clear after reading this is that Joan is worried about Sherlock’s new habit concerning his meetings — there’s not exactly any confirmation in here that he is actually missing these said meetings because he’s fallen off the wagon. There could be another reason, and that is something that will have to be investigated further in some shape or form.
Also, what about the case of the week? For whatever reason the show is really loving stories about poisonous meats at the moment — we had one not too long ago, and we’re getting one again now. To be fair, it appears that this is probably the only discernible thing that this story has in common with the other one.
