‘Westworld’ season 2: Ed Harris confirms participation
Are we going to be seeing a whole lot more of the Man in Black on “Westworld” moving forward? Based on everything that we’re hearing at the moment, the answer there appears to be “yes” — but it may be a little bit more complicated than that.
Speaking in a new interview on BBC Radio (per io9), Ed Harris confirmed that his character is going to be around on the upcoming ten-episode second season:
“Yeah, you know, as a matter of fact, I was just talking to Jonah Nolan last night, who’s a creator of this thing with his wife Lisa Joy, and yeah, they’re doing another season … They’re going to do 10 more episodes, and I will be involved.”
As that aforementioned site notes, in most instances this would probably not be considered altogether that much of a big deal. However, let’s a little bit different when you’re talking about “Westworld,” a show with a great deal of story fluidity, and a character who faces somewhat of an ambiguous future because of not only the Maze, but questions regarding precisely who he is outside of a user on this world. There are many theories out there about this already.
Perhaps the biggest takeaway from this interview is that one way or another, there will be room to see more of Harris on the show moving forward, but the more we think about it, the more we’re acutely aware that this hardly much of a guarantee of anything else. As a matter of fact, it feels possible that he could easily just be cast as a different character and the writers could conjure up a way to have this make sense.
