‘Elementary’ season 5, episode 7 video: The Shinwell dilemma
Sunday night’s new episode of “Elementary” is going to of course have another case at the center of it, but to go along with that, we’re also going to have some questions regarding another subject: What we’re going to be seeing coming up with a certain Shinwell Johnson. He’s a man Joan is still taking a personal interest in, and while there of course may be questions as to if this is the right move for her, she’s still opting to do this anyway. She wants to do what she can in order to ensure that he gets started on the next phase of his life, and that includes being able to find a job.
In the first sneak peek below, you can see Shinwell relaying some of his bad news to Joan that once again, he’s had a hard time finding good work. Nobody is willing to hire him because of his record, and it’s causing him to contemplate giving it up altogether.
This leads us into the second sneak peek, one where Watson asks Holmes a rather-simple (but also complicated) question: What if they decided to hire Shinwell to do some more work with them? He was able to effectively teach Joan how to be a detective, so of course in theory, you would wonder whether or not he could do the same thing for Shinwell in some capacity.
As for whether or not this will happen, we’ll find out when the episode airs — but for now, this is certainly something rather interesting to think about as the series pushes forward.
One other thing that we appreciate about this sneak peek, especially from the vantage point of irony, is how the name Kitty Winter is conjured up. This is someone who we know will actually resurface before we get to the end of this season.
