‘Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X’: Winners and losers from episode 9

Sunday -

This week, “Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X” brought us arguably one of the crazier episodes that we’ve seen in some time over the course of the series’ run, given the sole fact we ended up seeing a contentious, at-times hilarious Tribal Council in which Taylor stealing food was center stage. There were many factors that went into him being voted out, but we have to think that this was at least a small component of it.

Since Taylor’s gone, we can’t proclaim him to be one of the losers from this past episode; therefore, we’re going back somewhat to the drawing board for this edition of Winners and Losers. Luckily, everyone else gave us enough to talk about that we’ll have plenty to say for a little while.

Winner – Sunday Burquest. Hey, we haven’t exactly had much of a chance to mention her here for quite some time. We cannot say for sure what her reasoning is for targeting Jessica or if it’s a great move for her in the end, mostly because we don’t know if Jessica’s planning to come after her anytime soon. The most important thing is that this episode showed us that she is someone who is thinking strategically and with the right idea in mind of getting rid of someone before they get you. That’s something that could propel her towards having a shot in the end.

Loser – Adam Klein. We still like Adam a ton and feel like we’d probably play a similar game to him if we were out there: Passionate, but also reckless to the point where it gets him in a lot of trouble. While he did his best to stand up for himself at Tribal Council, the biggest problem in our mind with him is not precisely what the advantage is that he has; it’s the simple fact that he has one in the first place, and he kept it from other people supposedly close to him and chose to tell Taylor of all people instead. The trust issues surrounding this guy are only expanding.

Winner – Jay Starrett. Maybe it’s a little counter-intuitive to proclaim someone a winner when they’re clearly the next person on the chopping block, but we think that Jay did a great job in this past episode of being flexible, listening to people, and having the confidence to keep his idol. At the very least, he may be able to use this to buy his safety one more week, and if Will wins immunity, they may be able to drive a big crack in the larger alliance.

Loser – Ken McNickle. It was hard to find another person for this spot given that we didn’t see anyone do anything necessarily terrible, and we can’t put Jessica here just yet just because Sunday’s targeting her at the moment. Instead, we’ll say that Ken is probably the most surprising non-entity after the merge. We don’t get any of the zeal or enthusiasm from him that you’d want in a “Survivor” winner, and in winning immunity, he probably only makes himself even more of a threat down the road.
