Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s ‘Walking Dead’ schedule did alter ‘Good Wife’ ending
As it turns out, Negan’s presence on “The Walking Dead” did more than just alter the lives of a couple of fictional characters within that world; it also ended up having some pretty huge ramifications when it comes to the ending of another show in “The Good Wife.”
Speaking per Variety while at the Scripted television conference, the creators of the latter show in Robert and Michelle King made it clear that their intention was to use Jeffrey Dean Morgan for an additional scene for the series finale a little bit earlier this year, one that would have made it a little bit more clear that Jason Crouse did in fact end up with Julianna Margulies’ character of Alicia Florrick. However, that didn’t happen, and it appears as though there is one simple reason for it: He was busy working on the hit AMC show, and couldn’t get the time to fly from Atlanta up to New York, where the CBS series filmed.
Because of this scene not being filmed, “The Good Wife” arguably has an ending that is significantly more of a downer than it probably would have been in the event that this scene was filmed. Still, we took away from the ending that Alicia and Jason probably ended up together, so we personally didn’t let the lack of that scene change our opinion of it too much.
Plus, we loved the “Good Wife” series finale, and we’ve got no problem saying that even if some people think that the ending featuring Diane and the infamous slap was perhaps a little bit harsh.
