‘How to Get Away with Murder’ season 3, episode 9: Show boss on Wes mystery
Even though the winter finale of “How to Get Away with Murder” may have answered the all-important question regarding the identity of who was under the sheet, it also raised a wide array of other ones. Primarily, it raised a whole bevy of questions when it comes to precisely how that person ended up being dead.
Obviously, there are spoilers ahead. Read on at your own risk!
While it is certainly to lose Wes at this stage in the story, especially given the array of terrible things that have transpired for this guy since the start of the series, this is not a show with guarantees of happy endings. The only guarantee that we can offer you is that in the present, Wes isn’t coming back. Speaking to TVLine, show creator Pete Nowalk confirmed that Alfred Enoch’s character is in fact dead, but you will still be seeing him through flashbacks as we start to figure out what happened in between him leaving the station and eventually the fire that cost him his life:
“It’s a few hours of time, and we will be seeing those hours throughout the remaining episodes. In the first episode back, we’ll see what happened to Wes after he left the police station. We won’t get all the answers, but slowly, we’ll be pulling back the curtain. We’d been doing flash-forwards, and now we’ll be doing flashbacks. And by the end of the season, if not earlier, we’ll find out what actually happened to him and who killed him.”
Admittedly, our first thought after watching the finale was that Nate did it somehow to ensure that Wes wouldn’t have the chance to take a deal that would lead to Annalise being locked away for good, but the funny thing is that this show has a habit of subverting expectations. For example, we thought for sure that Wes was safe going into this episode.
