Will ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’ be end for the franchise?
The long wait for more “Gilmore Girls” is finally over. “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” will be premiering on Netflix on November 25th, and its four ninety-minute episodes are meant to be a celebration of anything and everything that the show’s achieved from the very beginning.
Now that we’ve said all of this, a different question needs to be asked: Could we still get more episodes beyond this? We know that we feel somewhat guilty even asking, given that there was a time when we never imagined we’d be getting any more of this show at all. Alexis Biedel and Laurel Graham have been very busy in their careers since the last time the show was on the air, so getting them back together to do more episodes of “Gilmore Girls” seemed impossible at one time. We just didn’t know logistically how it was all going to work out, but it has and even though we haven’t seen the episodes yet, we want to know if we get more!
For the time being, it doesn’t appear as though we’re going to have any more of the series, but it’s probably best to take a never-say-never approach with this. Speaking per TVLine, Graham said the following about the conclusion to this product:
“It was complete and utter — for me as an actor and a character — closure … I think [Alexis and I] both feel very proud of what we got to do.”
In specifically talking about the ending to “A Year in the Life,” Graham did seem to reference in some way that there is some room being left open for a story down the road — provided that the writers want to go there:
“I don’t think the show itself closes. It’s like in a horror movie when everyone is fine and then there’s one last [scary] thing and you’re like, ‘I guess they could go on.’ That’s a little bit how it feels to me.”
