Will Netflix help ‘Frequency’ – ‘No Tomorrow’ renewal odds?

Earlier today, The CW announced the premiere dates for a number of their various midseason shows, and that included in turn revelations that “No Tomorrow” and “Frequency” will not be receiving orders beyond the initial thirteen that were ordered. In terms of longevity, that’s not great news given that the majority of the shows with a chance of being renewed are the ones that end up getting more episodes to their name.

However, it is important to note that neither series at the moment is canceled, and there is a potential new savior out there who could be ready to swoop in and try to lend a helping hand in Netflix. Per Deadline, the streaming service, under a new deal that was signed before the start of this season, will pick up and begin streaming their first seasons a good eight days after the finales air earlier this year.

What this means is that The CW is going to have some further data that they can use in order to make the best decision as to whether or keep / cancel these two series. Both of them certainly do have their merits, and if they can attract a large streaming audience, maybe there will be a feeling that they will be able to also pull a larger one for a potential second season.

For the time being, we’re not altogether optimistic given the sole fact that neither show is generating tremendous amounts of buzz outside of the ratings in a fashion similar to “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” last year. Still, we are a firm believer that anything can happen, so it will prove interesting to see precisely what happens a little bit later next year when the network has all of the best available information.
