‘The X Factor’ UK results: Was Emily Middlemas, Ryan Lawrie, or Sam Lavery eliminated?
This weekend’s “X Factor” results show is coming at an interesting time. It has to find a way to milk some drama after what was a pretty subpar Disco Week, and at present we’d say that there are only a few real contenders to win. The only way we see anyone going completely nuts tonight is the event that either Honey G continues to stick around, or we end up seeing someone shocking like a Matt Terry or an Emily Middlemas go home.
There is no more Lifeline Vote in the competition tonight, so that means that we’re dealing just with a bottom two. The real loser there is Ryan Lawrie, given that this is what really kept him safe for a couple of weeks in here.
Let’s go ahead and get to the results, or at least the first phase of them. Things started to get interesting when we saw Saara safe right away, despite her unfavorable placement in the show. Then … Honey G was eventually spared. Again. We warned you this would happen next week; be prepared to see her start off the next episode at the beginning of the program, since we do think we’re nearing the point now where the producers will want her gone. She’s fulfilled her purpose at this point.
The bad news is that more Honey G is going to come at the expense of Sam Lavery, Emily Middlemas, or Ryan. Of the three, it’s clear to us that he’s the weak link.
While it would’ve been really crazy from a drama point of view to see real-life couple Emily and Ryan having to compete against each other, that didn’t happen. The sing-off was between Sam and Ryan.
Sam Lavery, “No More Drama” – Not a great song choice. This was really angsty and her pitch was off for much of it, even though we do feel like she really fought for her place.
Ryan Lawrie, “Stop Crying Your Heart Out” – Not a great performance, either. Ideally, Ryan is best in an environment where he gets to do something in more of a songwriter vein; he’s not really suited for these big ballads.
Elimination – Of course, this was controversial — would it be any other way? It seemed like Sharon was going to send home Ryan before she got pressured by the audience into saving him. She let it go to deadlock … and now Sam is gone. Pretty sad result in the end, given that we do think she was the far superior act and more suited for what this show is.
