‘Big Brother OTT’ spoilers: The second eviction; Care Package controversy galore

Tonight, “Big Brother: Over the Top” decided that it wanted to watch the world burn, and burn it most certainly did.

To us, the biggest surprise that came out of what we saw during the second part of tonight’s live Double Eviction was not even who went home following the exit of Alex; rather, it was what happened with America’s Care Package.

Let’s try to set this up for a minute here. Over the course of the night, America votes on what they thought was a Double Eviction Veto, one that was simply a replacement for a Veto Competition in the game. However, the Veto that Morgan received not only guaranteed her safety, but also allowed her to Veto someone else. Basically, she was able to use this in order to save both herself and Shelby, and as a result of that Danielle (who won Head of Household) nominated Whitney and Justin. Ironically enough, both Morgan and Shelby voted to keep Whitney and evict Justin despite all of the “celebratory dinner” controversy and supposed betrayals; Kryssie and Jason voted to evict Whitney, and Danielle broke the tie to send Whitney home.

Was this Care Package completely unfair? Absolutely, mostly because America didn’t know what they were voting for. If this was a situation where Morgan would’ve won it regardless, maybe it wouldn’t have been as big of a deal. However, there were some people out there who voted for it thinking that Morgan getting it would mean that Shelby went home, and these people were totally punked.

In the end, it sucks royally for Whitney, who found herself screwed over much like much of America likely feels right now. Where there not so many other things in the world right now, maybe we’d be more frustrated about than we do. Ultimately, “Big Brother” is a show for entertainment; nobody said it’d be fair. Just ask Jessie Godderz, who got eliminated in season 11 just because America decided to gift-wrap a move for Big Jeff that he had utterly no way to stop; or, ask the remaining contestants on season 13 when the duo twist restarted and Rachel was given a Head of Household Competition that she’d already won that season. These things happen on this show; the only difference is that America doesn’t usually get so played.
