Katy Perry, Larry Wilmore, Laura Benanti to appear on Stephen Colbert’s live Showtime election special
Tonight, Showtime is bringing you something a little bit different when it comes to the Presidential election, as Stephen Colbert is going to be hosting a live edition of “The Late Show” — even though it may not be technically called that, given that it’s not airing on CBS. Instead, the title for this is “Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going to Clean Up This Sh*t?.” and the objective here is to give you something raw, unfiltered, and hopefully very funny. It’ll be taping from the same studio that Stephen calls home during “The Late Show,” so it will at least look familiar.
As for the lineup of guests, let’s just say that Stephen is still attracting some very-big names despite the one-night move to premium cable. Many of them also have some particular ties to either Colbert or the election in some way.
Katy Perry – Throughout the past several months the pop singer’s been an ardent supporter of Hillary Clinton, and has made appearances for her campaign.
Laura Benanti – The Broadway icon of course famously spoofed Melania Trump on “The Late Show” in the past, and we wouldn’t be shocked to see something like that tonight.
Jeff Goldblum – It’s Jeff Goldblum! What more do you need to know?
Larry Wilmore – The former host of “The Nightly Show,” who probably would’ve been doing his own special on Comedy Central tonight were it not for the 11th hour cancellation.
Patton Oswalt – Comedian and noted political commentator on social media throughout the election.
Nick Offerman – Just because he’s Nick Offerman, we’re excited to have him aboard tonight.
There are a few other guests who will be turning up to go along with some potential surprises, so be on the lookout for that tonight. Hopefully, this show will be a nice source of comedy for those of you who are feeling relatively stressed-out about the election. Trust us when we say we’re right there with you! (Photo: Showtime.)
