‘The Blacklist’ season 4 spoilers: Is all as it seems when it comes Red’s plan?
Going into the fall finale of “The Blacklist” airing on NBC Thursday night, it would be pretty easy to leap to one conclusion: Alexander Kirk is probably going to die. His health is failing, and that’s especially true now that he does not have the transplant. Eventually, he’s going to get so desperate for answers on at least something that he will press Reddington on the subject of whether or not he is her biological father.
For Red, are his motivations so simple as wanting to see Kirk buried in the ground? It may be easy to jump to that conclusion, but as executive producer Jon Bokenkamp explained to Entertainment Weekly, we may see matters be a tad more complicated than that — and even if he does want Kirk dead, Dr. Adrian Shaw may not have anything directly to do with it:
“The task force believes Reddington was racing to murder Dr. Shaw because she’s a Hematologist who could save Kirk … However, as you may have come to expect, Reddington has a plan and I’m pretty sure it’s one nobody would expect.”
Reddington is often a man with a deeper plan, so for us we’re not entirely sure just what it could be. One interesting possibility, though, could be that Red is struggling with some unknown ailment of its own and needs the help of Dr. Shaw to correct it; or, it’s certainly possible that she herself as a deeper connection to Liz than what has been made clear to date. The reality that you have to remember is that the writers for “The Blacklist” from the very beginning showed little to no willingness in answer some of the central questions right away, and we’re not sure why there is any reason that would change now. There is no sentiment that we’re in the final season of the show; there’s even a spin-off coming up that could expand the universe further.
