‘MacGyver’ episode 8 preview: Bozer finally gets involved!
Tonight, “MacGyver” is airing an episode that features our title character working behind bars and behind the scenes to secure valuable information, and while in some ways this is a common action-series trope, we don’t mind when it’s entertained.
What has us even more excited about any of this, though, is learning about what’s happening on next week’s “Corkscrew.” For several weeks, we’ve bemoaned the fact that you have Justin Hires on the show, and yet you don’t have him really involved in any of the crazy stuff! This is a guy who was just actively engaged on “Rush Hour” earlier this year, so we know that he is firmly capable of delivering in this sort of environment. He can handle action and scenes and high-octane stuff, so why not use him for it?
Apparently, someone at CBS got the memo based on some of the information out there.
Synopsis – “When MacGyver comes face to face with Murdoc, an international assassin hired to kill him, Mac must defend both himself and Bozer, armed with only a corkscrew and paper towel rolls. Also, Bozer feels completely betrayed when he finally learns Mac’s true identity.”
In moving out of this episode, the larger question will probably be just how involved Bozer is in the series moving forward. How in the world do you use him? Do you figure out a way to incorporate the guy into some of the missions with Jack? We know that Bozer’s not exactly qualified in the world of taking down the bad guys, but maybe he could be a diversion specialist? If they ever need someone to make a phone call using a cheesy British accent in order to throw someone off the scent, we know that Bozer’s the guy!
Seriously, though, any chance to bring more humor into the show is a chance worth taking, and Hires is a very funny guy.
